#ShapermintCrewLove Series: Interview #30

The Shapermint Crew is a diverse community of Shapermint ambassadors. Up next in our #ShapermintCrewLove Series is one of our Shapermint Crew Brand Ambassadors, Brini Williams. Read to discover her self-care routine that sparks self-love.

You’re one of our Brand Ambassadors, part of the Shapermint Crew! What inspired you to join the Crew?

What inspired me to join the Shapermint crew was the need to have a nice smooth look with everyday essential wear. I'm not the type of girl who is big on girdles, or compression garments, but I love Shapermint’s tank tops and bras; they are sooooo comfy but still give me the support that I desire.

What do you enjoy most about being on the Crew?

What I enjoy most about being on the Shapermint crew is the access to new releases. As soon as a new item drops, I'm able to grab mine and start wearing them immediately. They are always dropping new garments in the most fabulous colors, so I'm always caught up on the latest shapewear. I also love that they check on me and make sure I'm in love with my new products, they are very friendly and caring.

Brini Williams - Shapermint Crew Brand AmbassadorsHow do you want to shape change with us?

I want to shape change by standing in the gap for the girls who aren’t into high heels every day, or a fabulous makeup routine every second of the day. There is a handful of us that just want to throw on a pair of jean shorts, and some comfy kicks, enjoy the sunshine, and feel good in our clothing without being too made up, or uncomfortable. I'm a mom, so I'm constantly chasing around my toddlers, and I hate having to pull my shirt down 24-7. With Shapermint, I can move freely, bend, twist, and jump without my shirt moving, or my stomach hanging out.

How do you define body positivity?

Body positivity, to me, is enjoying every step of the way. We all were 17 and 18 before and looked like supermodels. But some of us have gone through adult changes, and things may not look as firm or as tight as they once were. We have to embrace these things. Even for myself, there are times that I may want to pick out a part of my body and find 10 things I hate about it, but INSTEAD, I find 10 things I love about it. This is so ironic. I literally just posted about this on my IG feed, and I was wearing Shapermint when I made the post. I think it was national empowerment day! It was like a light went off in my head, to start loving ME more! And also, the outer appearance isn’t everything. It can be counted as important, but how we feel about ourselves truly reflects us more, than a thin waist or a perfect body. - Brini

How does Shapermint help you celebrate your shape?

Shapermint helps me celebrate my shape by allowing me not to worry so much about myself when I'm going out. I can throw on a nice dress and put some Shapermint shapewear under it and look just as beautiful and complete!! I can be my silly fun self more, and not worry about sucking in as much.

Brini Williams InterviewSelf-love is especially important. Do you have any particular rituals or routines that spark self-love?

I actually do. I started going to the spa because if not, I’ll never take time for myself. Especially when the kids hog up my time and spend all my money. I started setting aside a few dollars to treat myself to a spa massage monthly. And while there, I don't take my phone in or take anyone with me, it's literally my time to decompress, feel good about myself, and feel royal. Because women are goddesses, and we deserve to take care of ourselves. I also spend every other Saturday at the beach. The beach is 5 minutes from my house so I sit there for a couple of hours, read, maybe eat a sandwich and take in all the vitamin D that I can. It keeps me grounded. It gives me peace. It's a complete form of self-care. Occasionally I handwash the car, but that's more of car care LOL, but it's still fun to do - and I enjoy it. I wet the kids and just make it a BIG SPLASH party, LOL. Sometimes I include the kids in my self-care routine, LOL. They bring me joy!

We absolutely love the fact that you use social media as a liberating force to celebrate body positivity and other movers & shapers out there. Are there any women on social media who inspire you to be your best self?

Oh my goodness! Too many to name - but one of them is @dronme. She is a country, thrifting, reader like me. She’s so down to earth, she gardens, loves bugs, and just the whole non-technical vibe. Not only that, but she lives a sense of connecting with the earth and with family. She dresses as if no one is watching. I absolutely love her content and personality.

What is your favorite Shapermint essential? How do you like to style it?

It's the Truekind Daily Comfort Bra and Truekind Seamless Shorts. I'm weird because the last time I wore this outfit, I threw an oversized long-sleeve button shirt around it and buttoned the second to last button and wore this outfit, LOL. Comfort matters to me, and the last time that I checked, there were no rules to fashion.

Brand Ambassadors Brini WilliamWhen was the last time you tried something new that you thought you couldn’t do? Can you share more?

The last time I tried something new that I thought I couldn't do, was in May. I did a photoshoot and the creative direction behind it was completely editorial. I'm a petite model, so I book a lot of commercials and print work. I really wanted to test my skill and see if I could pull off the 5’10 vibes, ya know, as you see in the high-end designer runway shows. Vogue covers tall models. So I worked hard on the design, and I printed some stuff out to help me practice. Needless to say, I surprised myself! I was really impressed with the final photos. I didn't expect them to really portray the vibe I was aiming for, completely high fashion. I stepped out of my comfort zone and proved to myself that I have no limits. I'm super proud of myself for that !! For at least trying. And hey, my attempt was successful.

Looking in front of the mirror, what would you want to tell yourself?

When I look in front of the mirror, lately my affirmations have been: "I love my body. My body has taken care of me and been with me every step of the way. I am human. It's ok to have bad days but it is not okay to dwell on the things I cannot change. God loves me. My family loves me. My kids love me, and I love me."
