Today, Abby – an expert social media strategist and enthusiastic foodie – shows us how to astonish our taste buds with gourmet ramen! In no time, you’ll be able to take a package of instant ramen and transform it into a nutrient-rich, restaurant-quality meal you’d pay for.

A Fresh Twist on a Beloved Staple

During a normal workday, lunch is a time to relax and enjoy delicious food. Now that most of us are at home, it can feel like we no longer have that opportunity.

Instant ramen is a staple that most of us can find occupying space in our pantries. This simple food will allow us to embrace our creative side and rediscover the magic of lunch.


  • One package of instant ramen. Any kind of ramen works well. It can be any flavor, spicy, or not spicy.
  • Sesame oil
  • Chili oil, if you like your ramen spicy
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Sesame seeds
  • Garlic
  • An onion
  • Frozen veggies of your choosing
  • Spinach
  • 1 egg

As far as cookware goes, you’ll need a small pot – to boil an egg – and a pan for cooking the ramen.

Expert Tip: The spiciness in spicy ramen comes from the seasoning, not the noodles. If you want to enjoy a bowl of not-so-spicy ramen yet still enjoy the flavor, don’t use all of the spice packet.


  1. Begin by dicing the onion and adding it to the pan along with some sesame oil, garlic, and, if you’d like, a bit of chili oil. Once it’s sizzling, add in the frozen veggies and spinach.
  2. Add water to the pot and bring it to a boil. We’ll come back to this soon.
  3. Next, add a cup of water to the pan. This water will eventually become your broth. If you don’t like a lot of broth in your ramen, this is perfect. If you like your ramen to have more of a soupy vibe, then add some more water.
  4. Once the water in the pot is boiling, add the egg. Boil the egg for exactly 6 minutes. This will give you a perfectly boiled outside with a runny yolk, perfect for ramen. If you prefer your yolks more solid, cook it for a bit longer.
  5. Now, add the noodles and seasoning packet to the pan as well as the spice packet – don’t add the whole spice packet if you prefer less heat. Stir together and cover the pan until the noodles become soft.
  6. After the egg has been in boiling water for 6 minutes, add cold water to the pot to stop the egg from cooking.
  7. Once the noodles are cooked to your liking, turn off the heat and put your ramen in a bowl.
  8. Next, peel the egg and cut it in half. Set it gently on top of the noodles.
  9. Finally, add salt, pepper, and sesame seeds, and enjoy!
